Description
NO formal obedience or athletic skills are needed!
Throughout this course we encourage your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise as well as learning to work independently. It is a fantastic way to let your dog have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy. It is also a great way for dogs to burn off energy on rainy or hot “inside” days. This is also a great class for reactive and shy dogs because only one dog will work at the time.

What you need to bring to class:
- A hungry well rested dog.
- A flat-buckle collar or body harness no tags attached (not a no-pull harness).
- At the minimum, a 6-foot light weight leash (or a retractable leash).
- The dog’s favorite toy or HIGH value treats, at least 1-1.5 cups (chicken, hotdog, string cheese, ham bits etc) cut into small penny sizes.
- Crate or vehicle. A place where your dog can rest during the time he is not working. Your dog will not hang out with you during the time the other dogs are working.
What you will need to work your dog at home:
- 2 plastic containers with lids, big enough for your dog’s nose to fit in it.
- 6-12 cardboard boxes (shoe boxes work great). Note: Only the actively searching dog will be in the training room. Dogs waiting their turn may be in your vehicle or in a crate.
