Description
All Levels Open Obedience
Duration: 5-Week Class
Format: Single-Dog Working Rotation
Skill Level: Mixed Levels (Basic Foundations through Advanced)
Class Overview
Welcome to a unique, highly effective 5-week course designed to fast-track your progress through direct coaching and active observation. All Levels Open Obedience brings together handlers and dogs of all experience levels to learn, proof skills, and grow together.
How the Class Flows
To maximize focus and prevent mental fatigue, dogs will work one at a time.
- In the Spotlight: When it’s your turn, the spotlight is on you. You will receive customized, one-on-one coaching tailored exactly to your dog’s current skill level.
- In the Gallery: When your dog is not working, they must rest quietly in a crate or in your vehicle. During this time, you will remain in the training area to watch the other team’s work.
Why This Format Works
- Fresh, Motivated Dogs: Resting between turns ensures your dog enters the ring fresh and ready to give you 100% focus.
- Watch and Learn: You don’t just learn during your own turn—you learn by watching different breeds, temperaments, and skill levels solve training puzzles in real time.
- Inspiration & Proofing: Newer handlers get a front-row seat to see what advanced handling looks like, while experienced teams get a great environment to proof their dogs.
Prerequisites
- Foundations: Dogs must have basic obedience foundations (understanding of sit, down, etc.).
- Safety: Dogs must not be human- or dog-aggressive (must not pose a threat to bite).
- Containment: Handlers must secure and crate their dog or be prepared to safely contain them in their vehicle between working turns. Our crate room and facility crates can be utilized.
What We Will Cover (Tailored to Your Level):
Depending on your dog’s current skill set, we will focus on building, polishing, or proofing a wide range of skills, including:
- Foundation & Precision: Sit, Down, and Stand (including in-motion exercises)
- Engagement & Control: Heeling on and off-leash, sharp about-turns, and close-quarters mingling around other people and dogs
- Distance & Duration: Extended stays, distance control/commands, and the send-out
- Other Skills: Reliable recalls, flat retrieves, and retrieving over the jump… and more!
